    Tips: Why you need a 1-phase 220V to 3-phase 380V VFD?

Due to national policies and regional restrictions, many areas will now withdraw 3-phase 380V industrial power. No 3-phase power in the region to apply for 3-phase power cumbersome procedures and a variety of labor costs and various hidden costs, resulting in some areas can not use industrial 380V power. and general industrial equipment, such as AC motors are mostly 3-phase 380V, in the absence of 3-phase electricity can not run. We can only find ways to convert 1-phase 220V to 3-phase 380V. However, many single phase 220V to three phase 380V equipment on the market are ridiculously expensive, so many users in need are discouraged. And the original machine can only be temporarily placed, or put into other places with industrial electricity to use.

ATO offers a series of 1-phase 220V input to 3-phase 380V output variable frequency drive from 1hp to 20 hp, which can drive 3-phase asynchronous motor soft start operation, for infinitely adjustable speed. The input power only needs single phase 220V, output three phase 380V, and the price is acceptable to most users. Our VFDs are about 1/10 of the price of the booster on the market, compact size, powerful, 0-400Hz can be adjusted at will, completely solve the embarrassing situation of industrial equipment without 3-phase power.

Which is correct for VFD answer?
One of the questions asked about this VFD was whether it maintained the motor within its torque capability at a reduced frequency. The answer was no.
However, the manual indicates that the VFD operates in linear V/F mode only, which would be constant torque below the motor's base speed and constant hp above.
My question is, which is correct? Can the VFD maintain the motor at near 100% rated torque down to at least 80% of its base speed? Thank you.

When the frequency and speed of a single-phase motor are reduced, the output torque will also drop, and the torque cannot be maintained.
The V/F curve operation mode described in our manual is based on the research of three-phase motors, single-phase motors have not been tested.
Can you give advice to solve VFD problem?
Hello! I purchased a gk3000 that went through wiring, and programming, and the milling machine ran.
However, on the endmill cutter, I didn’t seem to be receiving the correct power as well as at a certain point it shut all power to the house down without flipping the breakers within the panel.

I’m going to assume on the machine side some of the programming may be incorrect as I followed the YouTube videos and plugged my motor information as best I could. In any case, I have it switched off at the breaker now and am advantageous to restart because I can not lose power to the house.

I spoke to a mechanical electrician as this transgressed and he was baffled as well.
    Any direction, or advice?
    Would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Please provide us with the order number to further confirm what product you purchased.
We hope to provide you with better service.

    2. Our VFD cannot be used as a power source, it needs to be directly connected to the motor.
Please provide us with your motor nameplate picture for further confirmation.
Is there any video on how to change the VFD parameters?

We should control VFD by modbus communication only?
    Thank you for your support.
So you are saying we should control VFD by MODBUS communication only?

Yes, VFD can only be controlled via MODBUS communication.
I can't find the perimeters on the manual
I have a VFD model and could use some help on setting the perimeters on the VFD to make it run controlled from a pressure switch to an air compressor. I have the pressure switch connected to COM and FWD terminals, just can't find the perimeters on the manual to set it to run being controlled by the pressure switch.

Is your compressor pressure switch similar to a button switch with a normally open contact (NO)? If yes, you can use this pressure switch, connect to FWD-COM terminal. Please refer to the settings as follows:
    P0.03=1 (run command from terminal)
    P4.08=0 (2-wire control mode 1)
P4.00=13 (Define terminal X1 as stop signal)
When your pressure switch is activated, the normally open contact is closed, and the FWD-COM is connected, the VFD will start running. When you press Emergency stop, X1 and COM will be connected, and VFD will stop.
Can I increase torque though parameter settings?
A 3ph 1hp GP ind. motor is used to install the GK3000 to a small wood lathe. The torque feels insufficient. Is it possible to enhance torque using parameter settings? My motor is a 2-pole (per the specs), but I changed the pole parameter to a 4-pole setting, and the torque seemed to increase. Is this a bad idea?

    ATO Responded
By adjusting parameter P0.09 to 4% or 6%, you can increase the torque. You might as well return the motor to 2-pole operation at the same time.
Please let me know what information you can provide about this series?
Hello, I am interested in more information about the GK3300 series of VFD drives, non-enclosed. Could you provide a manual for this series? I found a manual for the GK3000 series and imagine many things are similar. However, the main thing I wonder is how they are set up since it looks like there is no control readout, buttons or other manual inputs. Is this done with a configuration software maybe? Please let me know what info you can provide regarding this series!

If you purchase the VFD non-enclosed, it will be equipped with a keyboard to realize input and display the reading function.
Can ATO help me find a suitable VFD?
We are looking for a single phase 5hp frequency drive 120 volt input to 3 phase 230 volt output 230 volt 60 Hz for a dive compressor application and we are wondering if this is where you can help us with?
The unit needs to be able to start through an external source in this case the dive compressor and then we are looking for and programmable output for a 120 volt drain valve 10 watts. ideally when the unit starts up, it will energize for about 7 seconds, so the drain solenoid will open and vent while the motor is getting to full speed. Then de-energize for 10 minutes for about 7 seconds and just repeat while the motor is running. If not, can we use the output relay to activate a cycling timer relay?

Our VFD supports single-phase 120V input, and the output voltage is three-phase 220V.
However, this voltage should not affect the 230V motor much, so you can use it normally.
If you can provide your submersible compressor power, voltage, current and other parameters for our reference, it would be better. The rated current capacity of VFD should be larger than your motor rated current.
For the cyclic control requirements you mention below, you can only program them yourself or use the cyclic timer relay.

    1hp VFD protection method
Protection between 1hp VFD and motor: Could you please tell me quickly why you don't recommend any EMC filters, shielded wires and braking module/transistor?
    From: Cliffy | Date: 22/04/2021
Was this review helpful? Yes No (0/0)
    ATO Responded
Don't recommend anything between 1hp VFD and motor, because motor will be directly controller "on/off/speed, etc" via the VFD.
