Tips: Universal VFD vs. single phase to three phase VFD
Universal VFD is a power control device that applies the principle of frequency conversion technology and microelectronics technology to control AC motor by changing the frequency of motor working power supply, converting AC power with fixed voltage and frequency into AC power with variable voltage or frequency. The process is to convert the frequency AC power into DC power through rectifier, and then convert the DC power into AC power with controllable frequency and voltage to supply the motor.
The single phase to three phase variable frequency drive is based on the ordinary VFD, which converts the 220V AC power into DC power through the rectifier (voltage doubling rectifier), and then converts the DC power into three-phase 380V AC power with controllable frequency and voltage to supply the motor. This method does not step up the voltage through the transformer, but only through the rectifier boost circuit, which greatly reduces the size and weight of the VFD, and the cost is lower compared to the boost device.
