    Tips: 1-phase 220V to 3-phase 380V VFD working principle

The principle of variable frequency drive is a power control device that applies the principle of frequency conversion technology and microelectronics technology to control AC motors by changing the working frequency of the motor.

The output waveform of VFD is simulated sine wave, mainly used in 3-phase asynchronous motor speed regulation, also called frequency converter. The VFD is mainly composed of rectifier (AC to DC), filter, VFD (DC to AC), brake unit, drive unit, detection unit and microprocessor unit. The VFD mainly adopts the AC-DC mode (VVVF frequency conversion or vector control frequency conversion), which first converts the frequency AC power into DC power through the rectifier, and then converts the DC power into AC power with controllable frequency and voltage to supply the motor.

The single phase 220 volt to three phase 380 volt VFD converts the 220V AC power supply into DC power supply through rectifier (voltage doubling rectifier), and then converts the DC power supply into 3-phase 380V AC power supply with controllable frequency and voltage to supply the motor.

Wish to ask some questions to verify correctness in "GROUP P8" of the VFD
We have powered wired to the VFD from our 240VAC 3 Phase Delta bus using a 240V single phase (L1 and L3). The motor has been wired to the drive as well and we would like to spin the motor using the drive push buttons and wheel on the VFD face plate.
The VFD parameters have been reviewed for the motor and wish to ask you some questions to verify correctness in "GROUP P8". We believe some changes should be made which are in red: can you confirm?

    1. P8 parameter is the motor parameter group. You only need to set it according to the parameters on your motor nameplate. P8.00 is the motor type. If your motor is a variable frequency asynchronous motor, set P8.00=1, P8.01 =4.5KW, P8.05 = 1800rpm. These are consistent with the motor nameplate parameters.
    2. Regarding the grounding of the VFD, we usually recommend that the motor and VFD be grounded separately. Of course, you can also connect the motor ground to the VFD ground terminal (E terminal) and then connect it to the grounding system correctly.
    Is there a reference manual?
Could you send me the parameter settings for this VFD my motor is an induction motor with 400 V rpm 1455 hp 10 cont 12.8 amp. Thank you very much

    VFD
For the main spindle, I have this 380V spindle on my machine.  It appears to be the same as the 9KW spindle in your shop.  The spec sheet says 19.5A (JST) and 18.2A (ATO).  Will I be able to use the 15HP 220-to-380 VFD, or do I need the 20HP one?   The machine is a home-use one so the longest continuous run it will see will be 2-3 hours at most, usually less.  It won't be running all day.

Yes, you can use the 15HP 220-to-380 VFD (rated current 25A) to drive your 9KW 380V spindle (rated current 19.5A). As long as your 9KW spindle motor is not overloaded, there will be no problem. Of course, it will be better if you use 20HP capacity. But note that our VFD can only be directly connected to your spindle motor, but cannot be used to power your machine.
    What should I do?
Hi, I've received the VFD and set it up and it runs the motor fine from what I can tell, however I am currently using the panel's fwd and stop buttons to turn it on/off. I have external buttons to run it, but they are maintained contact buttons, not self-resetting buttons like in the quick setup guide.
I need the VFD to jog fwd when X1 is connected to COM and turn off when it gets disconnected. I tried setting P3.00 to "4" but it won't let me, it goes straight from 3 to 5, skipping 4 completely. What should I do?

You're saying you want to run the VFD via an external button, right? If so, you can directly refer to the attached quick setup document case description for terminal control cases. P3.00 can Not be set to 4, maybe this terminal is already occupied. You can try it with P3.01 or P3.02.
Works great for running imported equipment at home
Currently using these 220 to 380 VFDs to run a CNC router setup I bought from China. The spindle, dust collector, and vacuum are all 380v 3-phase and with only 240V single phase available at home, I was at a loss until I found these VFDs. I used the 10HP one to power the dust collector, and am planning on purchasing another two for my vacuum and spindle respectively. Initial setup to get the motor running was pretty simple with several videos as well as a quickstart guide, and the manual was clear enough on its own regarding all the parameters, but when I had questions, customer service always responded promptly, which is why I recommend going with these over directly importing a similar model from China.

How do I increase the RPMs for the motor?
Hello, I just purchased a 10 hp VFD, single phase Input to three phase converter. I have it installed and programmed to operate a pump motor. I have programmed the VFD with the motor specs. 220 v, 34 amps, 2800 rpm, etc. However, when I run the VFD the most RPMs that it will put out is 1450. I have tried increasing the RPMs in the settings but no increase. How do I increase the RPMs for the motor?

May I ask if your 3 phase motor is 50HZ or 60HZ? If it is 60HZ, please set P3.45=47 (P3.45*60HZ=2800rpm).
    High quality VFD
Can you advise what the starting current will be for your VFD when the 200 horse power motor starts up just we need to make sure our generators are ok?

No inrush for VFD, and your generator will be very okay as the drive will accelerate the motor slowly. So it will totally limit motor inrush current.
