    ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) Selection for E-Board BLDC Motor

    • The speed of BLDC motor does not exceed the speed of ESC, it can be matched and used.
    • Brushless DC motor speed calculation formula: battery voltage * motor KV value.
      Brushless DC motor stator speed calculation formula: motor KV value * battery voltage * motor pole pairs.
    • The limit speed of V4 series ESC is 60000 ERPM.
      The limit speed of V6 series ESC is 15000 OERPM.
    • If the maximum speed of BLDC motor exceeds the speed of electric speed controller, the ESC can also be matched by reducing the working voltage of motor. But we do not recommend this, because it does not really play the role of brushless DC motor.

    Tips: Principle analysis for the propeller of electric skateboard brushless motor.

    A propeller is usually composed of blades and blade valleys. The connecting part of propeller and tail shaft is the blade valley, which is usually conical. To reduce the water resistance, a fairing (hub cap) was added at the rear end of the blade valley to form a lightweight downstream streamline body together with the blade valley. The blade is fixed on blade valley. The propeller usually has 2-6 blades. The more blades, the smaller the vibration of blades.

    When the propeller of an electric skateboard BLDC motor rotates, the circular trajectory of the blade tip is called the tip circle. Diameter of the tip circle is the diameter of propeller. Distance from the tip of blade to the centerline of blade is called propeller radius. The area of tip circle is called disc area. When the electric skateboard brushless DC motor starts, propeller starts to rotate forward. The side of blade that first contacts the water is called the leading surface, and the other side is called the follower surface.

    Good motor
    Great motor for the money, I bought this 1200W brushless motor 2 years ago. But for some reasons I idle the motor, two days ago, I need a motor to finish my project, it's still working and work perfectly! This is by far the best motor I've tried so far. I've already ordered a second one for another project!

    Solutions for brushless motors
    Hi Sameh.
    I have successfully installed a unit in my boat and it is working forward and reverse. However, the forward/ reverse switch in the controller does not work on command. It often takes time and fiddling with the potentiometer and or function switch. Do you have a solution as when underway in the water I need instant and reliable switching?

    It is true that this forward/ reverse switch does not have command control function and can only be operated manually.
    At the same time, when you switch forward and reverse, it will take a certain period of time for the motor to switch to another direction due to inertia, so it is difficult to change this.
    Sorry we do not have other solutions at present.
