    Tips: Application of stepper motor in transverse sealing

    As for the continuous packing machine, transverse sealing is an important actuator and also one of complicated mechanism of packaging machine. For the packing film with color mark, there is strict requirement for its seal and cut-off position. To improve the cut-off accuracy, eccentric chain wheel mechanism and crank shaft guide mechanism have developed in succession. However, there are many disadvantages over these mechanisms, like difficult in adjustment and low reliability. However, the main reason for these disadvantages is constant speed transverse sealing of transversely sealed wheel and positioning off according to the technological requirement.
    Speed synchronization can be realized for the stepper motor direct transverse seal wheel. Film feed wheel of continuous packing machine feed films continuously. During the transverse sealing, the linear speed of transverse sealing is required to be synchronized with the speed of film feed to avoid tearing film and thin film. When the bag length is changed, it is necessary to change it by changing the rotational velocity of the transverse sealing wheel, but it takes certain time to realize transverse sealing. That is, it takes constant time to seal it transversely, contact and leave it, or it will not sealed tightly. The total time for the transverse sealing wheel to rotate for a circle and that for transverse sealing is constant. To satisfy the requirements for speed synchronization, the rotational speed of the stepper motor within one circle can be divided into two parts: firstly satisfying the requirements of speed synchronization and satisfying the requirements of non-load part for rotating for one circle.

    I used this Nema 23 stepper motor to control a Z-Axis on a milling machine
    I used this Nema 23 stepper motor to control a Z-Axis on a milling machine. It was hooked up to a ball screw and linear slide. I got a great feed rate and excellent positioning from it, all at a good price point.
