Tips: Main parameters of miniature circuit breaker

A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is an essential component used for protecting electrical circuits from overload and short circuits. Here are the main parameters to consider when selecting an MCB:

    • Rated Current (In): The maximum current the MCB can carry without tripping, typically measured in amperes (A).
    • Breaking Capacity (Icu): The maximum fault current the mini circuit breaker can interrupt without causing damage, expressed in kA.
    • Tripping Curve: Defines the time it takes for the MCB to trip at different levels of overcurrent. Common types include B, C, and D curves, each suitable for different applications.
    • Rated Voltage (Un): The voltage the micro circuit breaker is designed to operate at, usually 230V or 400V for residential or industrial systems.
    • Poles: The number of poles (single, double, triple, or four-pole) depends on the configuration of the circuit.
    • Environmental Conditions: Consider temperature, humidity, and altitude ratings for optimal performance.

    Types of Circuit Breakers

In this video, we'll take a closer look at the meaning behind these abbreviations and explain the types of circuit breakers they represent. By understanding the different types of circuit breakers on the market, you can make an informed decision and choose the right type for your specific requirements, thereby enhancing the protection of your electrical infrastructure.

    Isolator vs Circuit Breaker

Although isolators and circuit breakers have similar functions in a circuit, they are two separate entities. This video explains you the difference between the two devices in terms of working, features, operation, affordability, etc. You can choose between them based on your specific requirements.
