    Tips: SSI output magnetostrictive displacement sensor vs absolute encoder

    1. As for the standard RS485/RS422 digital output signal, through SSI synchronous serial output mode, the data format is the same as that of absolute output encoder. Output gray code or binary code can be used to replace absolute encoder for the sake of measuring the displacement. The interface of the both is compatible, so magnetostrictive displacement sensor can completely substitute absolute encoder.
    2. Magnetostrictive displacement sensor features good reliability. Featuring high anti-interference, SSI signal can be transmitted remotely. The data are exchanged synchronously and also can be used in various closed-loop control systems so as to be connected with various controllers or PLCs. Meanwhile, it features simple installation and long service life. Thus, it reduces heavy repair workload than absolute encoder.
    3. The output position is an absolute value, digital panel meter can read anytime without influence of power interruption and restoration, and it is not necessary to be reset. As for absolute encoder, it is necessary to be calibrated regularly and rest after power failure, etc. However, the magnetostrictive displacement sensor of SSI output makes up for the flaws of absolute encoders.
