Tips: EMI power line filter - common mode performance
Common mode filtering performance of EMI line filter which is used for electrical equipment power is usually restricted by common mode capacitor. Capacitor means the bridge joint capacitor between phase wire or middle wire and safety ground. Grounding current mainly means the current flows through common mode capacitor, and the current flowing through capacitor is decided by power voltage, power frequency and capacitor value. Since leakage current amount is very important to personal safety, different countries have strict stipulation for grounding leakage current of different electrical equipment. If the rule for maximum leakage current is made, then it needs to figure out maximum allowable grounding capacitor value. Besides, the capacitor is required to have enough margins for electronic and mechanical safety, to avoid puncture and short circuit under extremely harsh condition. Because this kind of capacitor should be connected to safe grounding and the equipment housing should be connected to safe grounding, this capacitor pressure resistance performance is very important to protect personal safety. Once equipment or device insulation loses effect, it may endanger personal safety.
