Tips: Difference between the circuit breaker and air switch

    1. Voltage level: As to the low-voltage apparatus, the air switch is equivalent to the circuit breaker. As to the apparatus with a voltage grade below 500V, when there is a short circuit, the current can be cut off. In the high-voltage apparatus, the two are different. The circuit breaker can operate normally in various voltages above 220V. Its sustained load and short-circuit current are higher. However, the air switch will be cut off automatically if the current exceeds a certain value.
    2. Arc extinguishment means: The air switch extinguishes the arc with air as the medium. Therefore, it is also named the air-type low-voltage circuit breaker. Because it has convenient operation and high safety, it is widely used. The circuit breaker has many arc extinguishing means. So, its arc extinguishing capacity is strong. The high-voltage apparatus usually employs the vacuum, sulfur hexafluoride for arc extinguishing.
    3. The effects: The air switch usually plays the role of “isolation” and “protective equipment” in the small-current circuit. In the condition of short-circuit current and high current, the circuit breaker trips automatically. In the high-voltage and high-current circuit, it is normally used as the operating apparatus for powering off, powering on, connecting, and disconnecting the load.

    Types of Circuit Breakers

In this video, we'll take a closer look at the meaning behind these abbreviations and explain the types of circuit breakers they represent. By understanding the different types of circuit breakers on the market, you can make an informed decision and choose the right type for your specific requirements, thereby enhancing the protection of your electrical infrastructure.

    Isolator vs Circuit Breaker

Although isolators and circuit breakers have similar functions in a circuit, they are two separate entities. This video explains you the difference between the two devices in terms of working, features, operation, affordability, etc. You can choose between them based on your specific requirements.

    Great circuit breaker.
Bought this circuit breaker for replacing the old one. I installed this breaker once receiving it. I am really happy that it solved the inrush current problem. Great product.
