    Tips: Connection of rotary encoder and PLC

    General rotary encoder has three kinds of power supply: DC 5V, DC 5-13V or DC 11-26V. If the encoder uses DC 11-26V, then it can use the PLC 24V power supply, but something need to be aware of:
    The current consumption of the encoder is within the power range of the PLC.
    If the encoder is parallel output, connect PLC I/O point, need to understand that the encoder signal level is push-pull output or open collector output, such as the open collector output, there are NPN-type and PNP-type, which should be the same as the I/O polarity of PLC. If it is the push-pull output, then the connection has no problem.
    If the encoder is driver output, then the general signal level is 5V, be careful when connecting, do not let the 24V power supply level be into the 5V signal wiring and damage the encoder signal terminal.
