Tips: How do static and dynamic tilt sensors differ?
Static tilt sensors primarily measure inclination based on gravity and are best suited to stationary or slowly moving equipment. When a sensor experiences acceleration, vibration, or shock, these external forces can affect the measurement.
Dynamic tilt sensors are designed for moving or vibrating equipment. They typically combine accelerometer and gyroscope data through sensor-fusion algorithms to compensate for the effects of external acceleration and provide more reliable tilt measurements during motion.
Choose a static tilt sensor when the equipment remains relatively stable, and a dynamic tilt sensor when the equipment is subject to movement, vibration, acceleration, or shock. For equipment that switches between stationary and moving conditions, a tilt sensor with both static and dynamic measurement can provide more consistent monitoring. This sensor uses a dynamic/static fusion algorithm to automatically apply the appropriate measurement method according to the operating condition, making it suitable for vehicles, construction machinery, aerial work platforms, and other moving equipment.
