Tips: Magnetostrictive sensor vs Potentiometer
In the earlier stage, potentiometer is widely applied into injection molding machine. However, no matter its accuracy, reliability, stroke and service life is not better than that of magnetostrictive displacement sensor. Because the potentiometer is contact-type, carbon brush will be inevitably worn after repeatedly used for a long time and ultimately invalid. However, magnetostrictive displacement sensor features non-contact, no wear, durability, simple installation and compact appearance. So it possesses more incomparable technical advantages than potentiometer.

So glad we switched to this sensor

We were having trouble with position feedback on our injection machine using cheaper sensors. This one solved it. The 0.001% resolution is excellent and the readings are stable even with hydraulic vibration. Installation was simple with the M18 thread. The stainless rod looks well made. Very happy with this sensor.
