Tips: The ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity and operating short-circuit breaking capacity of miniature circuit breakers

    • Ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu): According to the conditions specified in the prescribed test procedures, excluding the breaking capacity of the circuit breaker to continue to carry its rated current capacity, in plain language, it means that this circuit breaker has a short-circuit fault when in use The expected maximum short-circuit current can be interrupted at a time without causing damage to the line, and the line is protected, but the micro-break is damaged or burned out and can no longer be used.
    • Operating short-circuit breaking capacity (Ics): According to the conditions specified in the prescribed test procedures, including the breaking capacity of the circuit breaker to continue to carry its rated current capacity, in plain language, it means that when the circuit breaker is in use, the line has a short circuit fault It can break not more than a certain proportion of the expected maximum short-circuit current at a time without causing damage to the line. The line is protected, and the circuit breaker it self can still be used without damage.

    Types of Circuit Breakers

In this video, we'll take a closer look at the meaning behind these abbreviations and explain the types of circuit breakers they represent. By understanding the different types of circuit breakers on the market, you can make an informed decision and choose the right type for your specific requirements, thereby enhancing the protection of your electrical infrastructure.

    Isolator vs Circuit Breaker

Although isolators and circuit breakers have similar functions in a circuit, they are two separate entities. This video explains you the difference between the two devices in terms of working, features, operation, affordability, etc. You can choose between them based on your specific requirements.

    So far no issues
I had two miniature circuit breakers as a spare just in case I need it at some time. So far no issues with the first two I bought.

    Using as a switch.
Use this 1 pole miniature circuit breaker as a switch on the DC input side of my PV charging controller. The DIN Rail is wide enough that I install a surge and arrester next to it. I am happy with this purchase.
