    Hi everyone,
I have a 24V DC input on a servo that I need to energize and de-energize about every half second. Which PLC is suitable for this application?

Hi Finnian, we recommend the ATO-TIMER-16PLC programmable timer relay. Choosing a PLC with relay output allows you to achieve the function of powering on and off every half second. Here is the spec link: https://www.ato.com/programmable-timer-relay-8-input

This timer relay PLC will work fine for this. Just make sure the relay output can handle the switching frequency and the current your servo input draws. The ATO-TIMER-16PLC is fast enough and has built-in timing functions, so you don’t need ladder logic unless you want extra control.

Half-second cycling is pretty common. If your servo input draws very little current (most do), the relay contacts should last a long time. But if you prefer solid-state switching, you can pair the PLC relay output with an external SSR to reduce mechanical wear.
