    Tips: How to improve the service life of methane gas detector?

    • The methane gas detector should be calibrated and tested regularly.
      When replacing the probe of CH4 gas detector, in addition to a certain sensor activation time, the instrument must be recalibrated. In addition, before using the methane gas detector, use the standard gas for response detection to ensure protection of the instrument.
    • Pay attention to the interference between other sensors and the methane gas detector.
      Although a composite gas detector can detect multiple gases at the same time, the fixed gas detector is not suitable for any combination of toxic and harmful gases. Generally speaking, each gas detector corresponds to a specific detection gas, but any gas detector cannot be absolutely effective.
    • Pay attention to the life of methane gas detector.
      CH4 gas detector has a certain service life. Generally, in portable gas detectors, LEL sensors have a longer life span and can generally be used for about three years. The life of the photoionization detector is four years or longer. The lifetime of electrochemical specific gas detectors is relatively short, generally one to two years. The life span of the oxygen sensor is short, about a year or so.

    Looking for CH4 detector
    We are interested in the stand-alone version with  the ability to interrogate, ideally a digital signal.  We are looking for the ability to measure very low methane concentrations in air.  Something in the range of 0-25% would be a good start.

    If you need "real time measurement software", we recommend the new version of the portable gas detector GD3000-CH4.
    It has three measuring ranges: 0-10000ppm, 20-100%LEL, 5-100%VOL---the lowest can be measured is 1ppm. This version comes with Bluetooth wireless or LORA wireless.

    Our fixed methane (CH4) gas detector is not supported to be directly exposed outdoors, because the protection level is not enough and the rain will damage the equipment. Of course, you can make a rain shield by yourself (without affecting the air circulation, as well as the rain can not erode the product).
    Gas detector order
    We are looking for a way to sniff out N2 leaks on a transformer by moving the detector along welds, the N2 system regulator and plumbing is this a good tool for that application?

    Yes, if the N2 system regulator is in a normal air environment, which means that the welds point of pipeline is in the normal air but no other mixed gas, then the unit N2 portable detector 0-100%VOL can work for that, with no problem at all.
