50A High Voltage DC Contactor Details

Tips: Fusion welding of the contactor due to electric shock, how to solve?

    Possible causes of the fault:

    • short circuit of contactor on the load side.
    • Overload use of contactor contact.
    • There’s a foreign body or a metal particle on the surface of the contact.
    • Pressure of the contact spring is too small.
    • Poor contact of contactor's lines, which makes the contactor repeatedly pull in and release at a moment.

    Maintenance method:

    1. Power off at first, separate the welding contacts with a screwdriver, correct the contact surface and eliminate the short-circuit fault.
    2. Replace with a large capacity and high quality contactor.
    3. Smooth the contact surface with a steel file and remove foreign bodies.
    4. Readjust the spring pressure.
    5. Check the bad contacts of the coil control loop of the contactor, reconnect the loop or replace electrical components, ensure a good on-off situation.

What kind of threads do DC contactors have?
Alright, thank you for your response.
If the main contacts do not have female M5 threads, what kind of threads do they have?

The main contact thread of ATO-ADH30 is M4, and the main contact thread of ATO-ADH50 is M5.
What is the internal difference between an AC and a DC contactor?
What is the internal difference between an AC and a DC contactor?
It's just a switch why wouldn't it work because of being DC?
And I need a contactor with a 48V DC coil preferably normally closed.

    ATO Responded
The core and coil of the internal design of the AC contactor and the DC contactor are different.
The internal coil and iron core of the AC contactor can only use AC power, and it is easy to burn out once it is used for DC voltage.
This is because the design principles of AC contactors and DC contactors are different.
If you want a DC contactor with a 48V DC coil, withstand voltage 300V DC, 32A, we recommend this 50A High Voltage DC Contactor. This contactor can be made into coil 48V DC, load voltage DC 12-900V, but the Contact Form only has 1 NO.
What part number should we order?
We need two N.O. contactors rated at 150 amps with 12-volt coils and specified to use your 200 amp, with N.O. and assuming the use of an auxiliary NO, what part number should we order?

    ATO Responded
Unfortunately, we do Not provide a voltage contactor for 200A. The high-voltage contactor has 200A and only one auxillary N.O, please refer to the link: https://www.ato.com/200a-high-voltage-dc-contactor-12v-24v-coil
    Few questions
    1. Why does the DC version cost 20$ more? Is there a difference in the internal structure between AC coil and DC coil?
    2. What are the typical open/close times?
    3. The supported altitude is 2000m. Is there an option to increase it to 2500m?
    From: Puth | Date: 10/12/2021
Was this review helpful? Yes No (0/0)
    ATO Responded
    1. The DC coil version is larger, and the material is different, so the price will be higher.
    2. The reaction time of contactor "typical open/close" is 0.3 second.
    3. Yes, it can be used at an altitude of 2500m, but this may have a little impact on performance.
Does your 50A high voltage DC contactor have a gas or vacuum filled arc chamber?
I want to ask if your 50A high voltage DC contactor ADH150/900-E has a gas or vacuum filled arc chamber?
    From: Covfe | Date: 02/11/2021
Was this review helpful? Yes No (0/0)
    ATO Responded
Our ADH series of DC contactors have inert gas in the arc chamber.
