Selecting a Diaphragm Pump for Water-Based Wax Emulsion

    Hi all,
I’m looking for a 3/4” or 1” air actuated diaphragm pump for transferring a water-based wax emulsion. The fluid has a pH of about 11 and operates at around 190°F.
Based on the chemistry and temperature, I’m assuming all wetted parts should be either PTFE or stainless steel.
Does anyone have recommendations for a suitable pump model or material configuration? Thanks in advance.

Nic, you are on the right track with stainless and PTFE. At pH 11, most stainless steels (like 304 or 316) can handle alkaline solutions fairly well, but the 190°F temp is something to verify carefully in the pump specs.

Hi, Nic. The pump is made of stainless steel, which is resistant to alkali, and the diaphragm is made of Teflon.
You can choose our model ATO-AODD-25 (1-inch air operated diaphragm pump). Link: https://www.ato.com/1-inch-air-operated-diaphragm-pump

Thank you for these two pieces of feedback. Sounds like stainless with PTFE internals is the right direction. I’ll review the ATO-AODD-25 specs.
