Tips: Difference between single-phase and three-phase transformers
In general, a three-phase transformer has three windings around one iron core, you can simultaneously transform three-phase power voltage to the secondary winding whose output is also three-phase power. And the single-phase transformer core only has one winding, it can only transform one-phase power to the secondary side of the output. In large substations and power plants, three single-phase transformers are also used together to form a three-phase transformer which is called "combined three-phase transformer". Generally, Grid transmission and industry adopt three-phase power, so they all use three-phase transformers. The single-phase transformers are generally used for civilian need single-phase power supply such as household appliances and so on, its capacity is relatively small.
