Tips: Difference between servo motor and stepper motor

Overload capability is different. Stepper motors generally do not have overload capacity, while AC servo motors have strong overload capacity. Its maximum torque is 3 times the rated torque, which can be used to overcome the moment of inertia of the inertial load at the moment of starting. Because the stepper motor does not have this overload capability, it cannot be used in some work situations.

Different speed and response performance. It takes 200 ~ 400ms for a stepper motor to accelerate from a standstill to a working speed (generally several hundred revolutions per minute). The acceleration performance of the AC servo system is better.

This video briefly shows the application of the ATO servo system in a linear slide.

ATO servo motor has 40mm to 180mm different square flange size, power rating from 50W to 7.5kW and speed range from 1000 rpm to 3000 rpm. so you can select the best one for your applications. In this video, ATO will show you servo motor linear actuator system for robotics.

In this video we've guided you through how to do VFD control wiring with a self-lock push button switch to run the motor in forward direction. We've covered everything from wiring to programming and even a test run. So just watch it through and hope you'll find it informative and helpful.

    ATO Responded
Yes, HMI can be added to our drive, and in that case it requires a PLC to support.
Also, our drive can provide RS-485 communication or CAN communication.
