    How to Convert 220V 1-Phase to 380V 3-Phase Converter?

    A three phase converter is needed when the "phase" required does not match the "phase" available. In other words, the equipment needs three phase power and only single phase power is available. Phase converters operate by converting single phase power into three phase power. They can also provide split phase voltages from the three phase power source. A three phase converter is used to allow operation of three phase equipment when single phase electrical services are the only power available or vice versa. The majority of the time phase converters are utilized to produce three phase power from single phase power sources as utility companies will associate higher fees for three phase electrical services due to the extra transformers, cabling, and metering required. In this article, we will introduce how to convert single phase to three phase converter.

    Connect the single-phase power to the "Input" port. Connect the ground wire. Turn on the input power & measure the input voltage, 234V AC (220V). Open input breaker and observe the operation panel. There are three arrow keys on the right, and "Enter" and "Menu" keys. The bottom line is Bypass, Inversion, Fault, Running, Manual.

    Input port

    Press the menu key: Running Info; Inv Start Mode; Work Mode; Parameter Set. Running info contains input and output information. And the current alarm information. Inv start mode includes voltage (constant frequency), frequency (variable frequency). Work mode includes Inv (battery priority) and Bypass (AC bypass priority mode).

    Turn on the AC output breaker, and start switch. The current output phase voltage is AC 388V (380V). Line voltage is AC 224V (220V). The panel shows that the current output line voltage is 224.4V, which is consistent with the measured value. Open the connected three-phase motor switch, and the three-phase motor will immediately run at AC 380V/ 50Hz. To set the frequency conversion start mode, first turn off the "Start" switch of phase converter. Press the menu key and change Bypass in work mode to Y (yes).

    AC output breaker

    The BPS light turns on. Change the frequency in the lnv Start mode to Y. Turn on the "Start" switch again. The motor is gradually accelerated to the rated speed, and the frequency conversion start is completed. After the single-phase input power is disconnected, the "Fault" light on the control panel is always on and an alarm sounds. After 30 seconds, the device will shut down.
