    Globe Valve vs. Ball Valve

There are many applications of valves in life, such as faucets, water heaters, gas, etc., all have valves. But there are many types of valves according to their structure, principle, application field and so on.

Among them, globe valve and ball valve are common types, so what is the difference between globe valve and ball valve? In this article, ATO industrial automation will introduce the differences between globe valve and ball valve.

    Ball valve and globe valveDefinition:

The globe valve, also known as the cut-off valve, belongs to the forced sealed valve, so when the valve is closed, the pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak. The sealing pair of the globe control valve is composed of the disc sealing surface and the seat sealing surface, and the stem drives the disc to move vertically along the center line of the seat. The height of the stop valve is small in the process of opening and closing, easy to adjust the flow, and convenient manufacturing and maintenance, wide range of pressure application.

Ball valve is a kind of opening and closing parts (ball) driven by the stem, and around the ball valve axis for rotation of the valve. The opening and closing part of the ball valve is a ball with a circular channel, rotating around the axis perpendicular to the channel, the ball rotates with the stem to achieve the purpose of opening and closing the channel. Ball valves require only a 90 degree rotation and a small torque to close tightly.

    Working Principle:

The globe stop valve relies on the pressure of the valve bar to make the disc sealing surface closely fit with the seat sealing surface to prevent the flow of media.

Ball valves evolved from plug valves. When the ball valve rotates 90 degrees, the inlet and outlet should be all spherical, so as to close the valve and cut off the flow of the medium. When the ball valve turns 90 degrees, the inlet and outlet should all present the ball mouth, so as to open the flow, and basically no flow resistance.

    Function:

The main function of the globe check valve is to cut off or adjust and throttle. Ball valve in the pipeline is mainly used to cut off, distribute and change the direction of medium flow, designed into the V-shaped opening ball valve also has a good flow regulation function.
