How does Computer Control DC Servo Motor?

The servo motor can control the speed with accurate position. The voltage signal can be converted into torque and speed to drive the control object. The rotor speed of the servo motor is controlled by the input signal and can respond quickly. In the automatic control system, it is used as an executive element, and has the characteristics of small electromechanical time constant and high linearity. Servo motor is divided into DC servo motor and AC servo motor. Its main feature is that when the signal voltage is zero, there is no rotation phenomenon, and the speed decreases uniformly with the increase of torque. Now we will talk about using computer to control a DC servo motor.

This is a brushless DC servo motor kit, including DC servo motor, servo driver, motor encoder line, power line, encoder adapter cable, RS232 to USB data cable and control port wring module.
It can be directly plugged into the transfer interface, the other end is directly plugged into the drive.

    Wiring

This is the control port wiring module. 2, 3, and 5 (A, B, GND) are RS232 communication interfaces. Red, green and yellow correspond to 2, 3, and 5, respectively.
Prepare a switch to turn on the enable signal (10=enable, 14=5V).
Plug the module into the drive.
The yellow, green, and blue power lines of the motor correspond to MA, MB, and MC, and are connected to the drive.
The driven IN+ and IN- correspond to 24V+ and 0V, respectively.

    DC servo motor wiring

The power supply supplies power to the drive, the drive controls the motor through the power line,
Position signal feedback to the driver, RS232 to USB data cable to communicate with the computer
The green button switch controls the enable input.

    Power on

This is the working state when the drive is normally powered on.

    Computer control DC servo motor

After RS232 is connected to the computer, the software can automatically read the drive parameters.
In "Config" you can configure the motor port parameters.
You can see in "Runtime" that we are currently connected to the computer with RS232.
Set the speed to 500, press ENTER, the motor does not rotate.
When the enable button is pressed, the motor rotates immediately.
When the speed value is 1000, the motor reaches the maximum speed.
Press "STOP" to stop the motor immediately.
When the value is adjusted to a negative number, the motor rotates in the opposite direction.
At -1000, the motor reaches the maximum turning speed.
The software can also monitor various data of the current motor operation.
