Help Choosing Load Cell and Display for Engine Valve Spring Pressure Tester

Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with one of my tools — an analog engine valve spring pressure checker. Think of a 1-ton arbor press with a dial gauge (reads up to 1000 lbs) mounted on the bottom platform. I'm using it to compress valve springs (up to 1-3/4" diameter) to a specific height to measure and balance spring pressures.
I'm looking to upgrade to a digital setup. So far, I'm considering these load cells and display from ATO:
ATO-LC-P01
ATO-LC-TC03
ATO-LC-P02
Paired with the ATO-LCTR-OAR digital load cell amplifier.
I’d like to adapt this setup to my press. I'm still a novice with load cells and digital measurement tools, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated, especially regarding installation and compatibility.
Thanks!

Hi, Edward!
If your press is capable of applying up to 1000 lbs and you're using it to measure valve spring force, then yes — you're on the right track.
Among the options you listed, the ATO-LC-P02 tension/compression load cell would be the best fit. It’s more suitable for your application and generally easier to install under a press setup like yours. It handles both tension and compression forces, which is useful for your vertical compression test.
Pairing it with the ATO-LCTR-OAR digital display will give you real-time readings and improve accuracy over the analog gauge.
