    Toggle Switch Troubleshooting

The toggle switch is one of the common electronic components of many digital products, and the frequency of use is very high. The first failure of most digital products is the toggle switch part because this part is the place that will be touched every time the machine is operated, so it is prone to various small faults after a long time. Let's list the trouble of toggle switches and how to deal with them.

Toggle switch's problems and how to solve their problem

The circuit fails after the switch operation

Because the wiring screw of the toggle switch is loose, the wire and the switch conductor cannot be in contact; or there are sundries in the switch so that the switch contacts do not contact; the switch mechanism is stuck, inflexible, and cannot be pulled.

Open the switch cover and check whether the fixing wire screws are rusted or loose. If there is rust, looseness, etc., remove the rust and re-tighten the wire with a screwdriver. Remove the debris inside the toggle switch, use sandpaper to rub the contact surface of the toggle switch when the power is off, and add a little high-grade lubricant when assembling. Check whether the mechanical part of the switch is flexible. If it is not flexible, add some lubricating oil. If the mechanical part of the switch is seriously damaged, replace the switch of the same type.24v lighted toggle switch

    Poor contact with the switch

An oxide layer is formed on the copper-aluminum junction outside the switch connector; singeing or dirt is present on the switch contact contacts.

For larger-capacity switch wiring, copper wires should be replaced to connect with the toggle switch or aluminum wires should be processed and connected to the wires; after the switch is powered off, remove the switch dirt and deal with the singeing of the switch contacts. If the switch is seriously damaged, replace it with a switch of the same type.

The switch heats up and burns out

The switch load is short-circuited; the switch is overloaded for a long time. Check the load condition of the toggle switch, deal with the short-circuit point, and restore the power supply; for long-term overloaded switches, check whether the load is too heavy, and reduce the load appropriately; if the load cannot be reduced for work, replace the switch with a higher rated current.

    Switch leakage

The switch protective cover of the on-off toggle switch is damaged or the wiring terminal inside the switch is exposed; the switch is exposed to moisture or rain.

If the protective cover is damaged, replace the switch cover and connect the power cable of the switch; if the switch is damp or exposed to rain, it should be cleaned with absolute ethanol and dried after a power failure, and then used after assembly.

The power indicator light is off

Whether the power supply is connected well; whether the switch knife is closed; if it is a three-phase power supply, check whether there is a phase loss. Connect the power supply and close the switch knife.

Start the switch to see if it is in the start position.

If it is, but the whole machine does not work, flip the start switch again to return to the start position.

The normal working indicator light, but the current and voltage can't be adjusted

Check whether the pressure limiting knobs for voltage regulation and current limiting are adjusted to the minimum position.

Turn the toggle switch's constant current knob to the appropriate position according to the requirements of the electroplating process.

No current output suddenly, but the working indicator light is normal

Check the wiring from the output of the power supply to the plating tank for disconnection. Replace or reconnect the cable.

No current output suddenly, but the protection indicator light flashes

Check whether the working environment temperature is too high and whether the fan is working normally.

What should you pay attention to in using?

    1. The shrapnel inside the conventional toggle switch is made of iron and other materials. If the toggle switch is used in a humid environment or exposed to water, it is easy to oxidize and cause defects. So we can probably make a preliminary judgment by the feel of the toggle switch, and then observe whether there is rust or other things that can be seen near the switch. If the situation is not obvious, you can use a rust remover to remove the rust. If the rust is serious, it is best to replace the entire toggle switch and replace it with a waterproof or high-quality material switch.
    2. Because the toggle switch is one of the frequently used parts, there is a high probability of wear and tear. After all, everyone’s operating habits are different. Sometimes it may be pushed hard to cause the switch to deform or the fixed solder joints to fall off, causing the switch to fail. At this time, check the condition of the toggle switch first. If the solder joints are only falling off, then you only need to re-solder; if it is deformed, you can only replace it with a new switch.
    3. When installing, if the pin part is not welded well, this will also cause failure, just need to re-weld the pins to fix it.
    4. The spring inside the toggle switch cannot deform and rebound. The small spring is broken or loses its elasticity, and there is no sense of reset in the hand feel. At this time, a new switch needs to be replaced.
    5. The switch is normal, but it cannot be moved. This may be caused by foreign matter entering the inside of the switch. You can first check whether it can be removed from the outside. If you can, then just take it out from the outside and add a little lubricant, if you can't, you can replace it with a new toggle switch.
