3 Points for Buying a Control Power Transformers

When we purchase control transformers, we should pay attention to these safety requirements:

• Insulation resistance:  The insulation resistance of the control transformer in the cold state shall not be lower than 10 MΩ; the insulation resistance of the control transformer in the hot and wet state shall not be lower than 2 MΩ.
• Dielectric strength:  The electrical insulation strength of the control power transformer should be able to withstand the withstand voltage test of AC 50 Hz, 2 000 V sinusoidal AC voltage, and no breakdown or flashover occurs for 1 minute.
• Leakage current:  The leakage current of the control transformer shall not exceed 3mA.

Step Up & Down Control Transformers Working Principle

The control transformer works according to the principle of electromagnetic induction. A transformer has two sets of coils: A primary coil and a secondary coil. The secondary coil is just outside the primary coil. When alternating current is applied to the primary coil, the iron core of the transformer generates an alternating magnetic field, and then the secondary coil generates an induced electromotive force. The primary winding and the secondary winding are commonly covered on the iron core so that they can be coupled with each other through magnetic circuits and circuit coupling, so that energy is transmitted from the primary winding to the secondary winding.
