    What is an air-cooled spindle CNC motor?

     

    Air-cooled refers to designing a forced convection channel between the housing of the electric spindle and the stator of the motor. The heat generated by the motor enters the forced convection area through heat conduction, and then the heat is brought into the air to realize the constant temperature operation of the electric spindle. Air cooling is pollution-free. If the static pressure gas bearing is used, the gas of the static pressure gas bearing can be used to circulate a part of the heat of the motor inside the main shaft.

    Tips for selecting a spindle motor for CNC router

    • Whether the spindle motor adopts high-precision bearings. If high-precision bearings are not used, the spindle motor will overheat after a long time of high-speed rotation, which will affect the service life of the spindle motor.
    • Rotate at different speeds, especially high-speed rotation, whether the sound is uniform and harmonious.
    • Whether the radial direction of the spindle is stressed, the main reference is whether it can cut hard materials at high speed. Some spindles can only cut hard materials at very low speeds, otherwise, the spindle will be seriously lost, affecting the accuracy of the spindle after a period of time, or even failure.
    • If you want to pursue high processing efficiency, the processing speed must be fast and the amount of cutting tools to be large at the same time, such as processing solid wood materials, etc., a spindle motor with a power of more than 2.2kW is required.

    Servo Motor vs. Spindle Motor in CNC Machine

     

    Difference of principle: The spindle motor is a precision asynchronous motor because CNC machine tools have high requirements for motion control, need to have good dynamic characteristics, large speed range and precise position control accuracy, so it needs a special servo motor. The principle is the same as the general squirrel cage motor, the biggest difference between the synchronous servo motor and the asynchronous motor is that the structure of the rotor is different. Synchronous motors have staggered poles on the rotor, and therefore require corresponding detection elements to detect the rotor position. When replacing these detection elements also need to be readjusted.

    Difference in the working range: The servo motor works in the constant torque area between the lowest speed and rated speed, while the spindle motor works in the constant power area between the rated speed and the highest speed because to achieve a large speed range, the rated speed of the spindle motor is generally very low.

    Difference in use: The motor is used to detect the speed of the speed generator, the Hall element evenly divided on the circumference of the motor to detect the relative position of the rotor, while the spindle motor is used to detect the motor speed with a position encoder, the motor encoder in addition to the conventional A, B, and R-phase sine cosine signal, there are two C-phase and D-phase sine cosine signal to detect the position of the motor rotor.
