A laser sensor is a sensor that uses laser technology to measure. It consists of laser device, laser detector and measurement circuit. Laser sensors are often used to measure physical quantities such as displacement, length, thickness, distance, vibration, speed, etc., and can also be used for monitoring of atmospheric pollutants and flaw detection.

    • Laser sensor for length/height/thickness measurement
In the high-precision machinery manufacturing industry and the optical processing industry, the length/height/thickness measurement is mostly carried out by using the interference phenomenon of light waves, and its accuracy mainly depends on the monochromaticity of the light. As the most ideal light source, laser is purer than the best monochromatic light source in the past, so the laser sensor can obtain a larger measuring range and higher precision.
    • Laser sensor for distance measurement
The principle of laser ranging is to measure the round-trip time after the laser is aimed at the target and then multiplied by the speed of light to obtain the round-trip distance. Because the laser has the advantages of high directivity, high monochromaticity and high power, these are critical for measuring large distances, determining target orientation, improving the signal-to-noise ratio of the receiving system, and ensuring measurement accuracy.

    Types of Laser Sensor

Laser sensors are often used to measure physical quantities such as length, distance, vibration, speed, and orientation. They can also be used for flaw detection and monitoring of atmospheric pollutants. The application fields are becoming more and more extensive. Two types of laser sensors are described below.

    Laser Displacement Sensor

The laser displacement sensor can realize non-contact long-distance measurement by utilizing the high directivity, high monochromaticity and high brightness of the laser. Laser displacement sensor (also called magnetostrictive displacement sensor) is a new type of measuring instrument. Its appearance greatly improves the accuracy and reliability of displacement measurement, and also provides an effective measurement method for non-contact displacement measurement.

    Laser Distance Sensor

Laser ranging is actually an active optical detection method. The detection mechanism of active optical detection is: the detection system emits a beam (in opticalLaser distance sensor detection, generally infrared or visible light) to the target, and the beam is radiated by the target surface to generate an echo signal. The echo signal contains the information to be measured directly or indirectly. The receiving and signal processing system obtains the measured quantity by receiving and analyzing the echo signal. The principle of the laser ranging sensor is the same as that of the wireless radar. After the laser is aimed at the target and launched, its round-trip time is measured, and then multiplied by the speed of light to obtain the round-trip distance. When measuring the distance, the laser rangefinder can accurately determine the target orientation, so it has been paid more and more attention.

The difference between a laser sensor and a photoelectric sensor

    • Working Principle: The photoelectric sensor mainly converts the change of light intensity into the change of electrical signal, so as to achieve the control of light. First, a laser diode is used to irradiate the target with laser pulses. The laser light is reflected by the target and scattered in all directions. A portion of the light is reflected back to the sensor receiver, where it is imaged by the optics and converted into a corresponding electronic signal.
    • Light source: Light sensors have a light source that sees red and red light, while laser sensors use laser technology. Red and red light spots are relatively large, and the farther away, the harder it is to detect smaller things, because the laser is generated by the laser, and the size of the source changes with the distance, and The general laser is different, its light spot will be very small, and it will become bigger and bigger as time goes by, but this change is so small that it cannot be detected by the naked eye. will zoom in.
    • Application: Laser sensors are widely used in presence, absence, positioning, counting, concave-convex, front and back, etc., and are widely used in packaging, electronics and other fields. Photoelectric sensors are used in crop position detection, liquid level control, product counting, width recognition, speed detection, fixed-length cutting, hole recognition, signal delay, automatic door detection, color mark detection, punching and shearing machines, and safety protection. In addition, using the infrared stealth feature, it can be used as anti-theft and alert in banks, warehouses, shops, offices and other needs.
