    5 Types of Gas Detectors

When you are in a factory, refinery, pipeline or any other hazardous work environment there are many different things that need to be monitored and kept at the highest level. Failure to monitor and treat them can lead to devastating accidents, but with some clever technology, such as gas detectors, so you can make sure you are always aware of any gas that is permeating your workspace thus ensuring safety.

In this article, we’re going to run through 5 different gas detectors that we sell here at ATO, all of which can be really helpful in identifying gas leaks when they occur and giving you the time to do something about it.

This handheld ammonia gas leak detector combines a sophisticated sensor mechanism with an easy-to-use interface, making it a really powerful device for portable use.  There are a couple of different versions, each of which has a slightly different measuring range – so you can choose the one that is most suitable for your environment.  It has a simple LCD display that gives you all the information that you need, while also being very compact and convenient for carrying around your workspace.

Without a detector like this, you can risk exposing your workers to concentrated amounts of the gas, which can be incredibly harmful to the nose, throat, and respiratory tract.  Not to mention that if it gets to a certain level, it can even cause explosions in confined spaces.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a nasty affliction and something that should be taken very seriously for those companies who are at risk – but luckily the sensors have come a long way in recent years and with the right technology, you can ensure that your staff is safe around the clock.

Our handheld carbon monoxide detector uses a pump suction mechanism combined with a high accuracy sensor to identify whenever there is a leak of any kind – so that you can then take action.  The gas leak alarm can be audible, visual, vibratory, or a combination of the above which gives you full flexibility on how you want to manage the situation.  The device itself is small and portable, with great battery life so that you are always armed with what you need.

Even at low concentrations, hydrogen sulfide can begin to create some harmful effects for workers who are exposed to it.  These can include severe eye irritation, coughing, difficulty breathing, headaches, and more.  The best way to prevent these is through a high-quality handheld detector that can pick up on leaks before they get too bad, allowing you to then find the root of the problem and take care of it.

We have a great handheld detector that we sell at ATO for exactly this purpose and it makes for a much healthier working environment all around.  The device uses a pump mechanism to identify potential leaks and comes in a variety of different options each with its own measurement range.  When the gas is detected, you’ll be alerted through light, sound, and vibrations so you’re never going to miss it.

Carbon Dioxide is a gas that most of us are familiar with, but often the dangers of extreme concentrations are underappreciated.  At these levels, it can cause significant respiratory effects and often without a seeming cause – making this risk rather pernicious.

If your workplace uses carbon dioxide in some form, it makes a lot of sense to have a portable detector with you to constantly monitor the environment and give you feedback when necessary.  Our detector uses infrared for this purpose, giving you highly accurate readings across a wide search space and with incredible precision.  As far as the device goes, it is small in size, with a simple LCD screen and a range of different alarm options to alert you to potential problems.

Methane leaks are not just dangerous for us humans in the short term, but it also contributes significantly to the rapid climate change that will affect all of us over the long term.  As such, if there is anything that you can do to avoid leaking excess methane into the air, you should consider it your responsibility to do so.

Luckily, we’ve just the solution for you.  Our portable methane detector uses a powerful infrared sensor and a built-in sampling pump to pick up methane leaks before they become a problem.  The device has a wide detection range, good battery life, and delivers highly accurate readings in any situation.  It’s by far the best way to protect against leaks of this nature.

Those are just a few of the gas detectors that we have, besides, here also have portable multi gas detector for you. With the right technology and a little preparation, you can buy yourself peace of mind and make sure that you’re looking after those people who keep your organization going.
